Road Condition Information from ODOT

Directions to Sunriver from Portland/Seattle:

I-5 South / Santiam Pass: I-5 South, to Highway 22 East, to US-20 East, merge with Highway 97 South, stay on Highway 97 South, through Bend and South to Sunriver. We go this way from Portland, virtually every time.

Our favorite - we think the drive through the Santiam Pass and then through Sisters, is the most beautiful. In the winter time, the Santiam Pass can be a challenge in the Winter time - check ahead of time on conditions (closures are not unusual)

I-84 - US-26 / Mt. Hood: I-84 West, to "Wood Village/Gresham" Exit, turn South on NE 238th Drive, turn left onto Burnside which becomes US-26, US-26 East to Highway 97 South, through Bend and South to Sunriver.

Mt. Hood is a pretty route, and the roads are well traveled in the winter. Best route if you are arriving from the Portland airport and then driving to Sunriver. If you would have to drive through Portland, you may want to avoid this route in order to avoid the delay in driving through Portland (esp. Friday afternoons).

I-84 - US-197 / avoid the most snow: I-84 West to US-197 South to Highway 97 South, through Bend and South to Sunriver.

The longest route, but usually the best choice if roads are a challenge due to snow. I-84 is seldom closed - and the road has less curves and steep grades compared to all the other routes.

Arriving in Sunriver: From Highway 97, turn onto South Century Drive (heading south from Bend, you will pass the Lava Vistors Center on the right, then Cottonwood Drive on the right - keep going - the next exit on the right is South Century Drive). Turn right at the entrance to Sunriver, and then take the next right to the Village Mall. Park by the mall - proceed to the rental company to check-in and get your keys.
